A couple of weeks ago my friend, Jean, was dismayed because her patients weren’t showing up in the Oriental medicine clinic where she is an intern.
I told her to be more confident in herself.
In the past she had some regular patients who loved her acupuncture treatments so much that they even gave her gifts.
So, it was somewhat humbling to Jean to not have her patients show up while all the other interns on her shift were getting patients.
I told her she shouldn’t take it personally, and she said that’s what her supervisor told her.
Then she learned the reason why one of her regular patients had not been coming. She had to go to Australia due to the unexpected death of her mother. So, that confirmed that it had nothing to do with Jean.
So then Jean gained confidence in herself and in her treatments.
But then it continued to happen…no patients for her on her shift. Jean was again starting to take it personally. My encouragement to tell herself that she was an excellent acupuncturist helped somewhat, but not completely.
Then Jean bought the book, ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay. As Jean put into practice what she learned from Louise, she experienced positive changes…
She said mantras to herself throughout each day about what a good acupuncturist she is and about how her patients show up and feel better from her treatments.
And that’s just what happened!
Then she got her mid-term review from her supervisor who praised her. The supervisor told Jean that her treatments are not only good, but very creative and thorough. She told her that it’s obvious that she is passionate about helping her patients, unlike other students who only chose Oriental medicine because of the income potential or for other reasons.
Now Jean not only uses mantras to help herself, but also her patients. Jean chooses a mantra from ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ that corresponds to her patient’s condition. She then writes the mantra and gives it to her patient.
Her patients love that, and they definitely feel better after Jean’s treatments.
So what about you?
What are you doing to be more confident?
Perhaps these lyrics I wrote for ‘Could She Be You?’ will inspire you:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
She walks alone, head held up high,
feeling her power, deep inside.
Surrounded by those from above,
she is empowered with their love.

What else can you do?
I encourage you to read ‘You Can Heal Your Life’.
And don’t just read it. Take action like Jean did to bolster her confidence.
What mantras can you create to be more confident?
How can you make them more effective?
Here’s a suggestion. Repeat your mantras throughout every day, especially while looking at yourself in the mirror.
Nourish your mind with positive statements about yourself and what you want. And visualize yourself being confident.
Treat your mind as well as you treat your body.
Just as poor dietary choices affect your physical health, what you feed your mind affects your emotional and mental state.
You can heal your life.
You’ve got to tell yourself how good you are every day and believe it!
Jean did it, so why can’t you do it, too?
Till next time…
Wishing you peace, joy and love,

Hi Greg, I agree! Thanks for giving your view.
For me, I think the key to being more confident about yourself is to have a good perception of yourself. I believe this ultimately is how others will perceive you as well. If you see yourself as a competent, energetic, friendly, and attractive person, people will see you the same way too.
Thank you for sharing, Barry!
Thanks for your encouraging words, Adam! I hope you’re finding mantras to be helpful to you.
Thank you for your comment, Acupuncture Tampa. I appreciate you!
