I believe we all need a motivational inspirational tip sometimes, so I have a simple one to share with you now. It’s one I’ve just recently started practicing.
For most of my life I’ve had poor posture, a bad habit. As you know, bad habits are hard to break, so I’m grateful when I’m reminded to “Stand tall”.
When Brian and I take our daily walk, we remind each other to stand tall. Sometimes I’ll add, “Shoulders back, chest out, tummy tucked.” And it’s amazing how differently I feel when I follow that advice. I feel more confident and important.
So here’s my tip for you: Stand tall with your shoulders back, chest out and tummy tucked. Do it now.
How does it make you feel?
Go look in the mirror and observe how you look when you stand tall.
You look important. Don’t you?
When you look important and feel important, you’ll be treated differently….treated better!
You’d like that. Yes?
Of course, you would!
To help you remember, here are some lyrics for you from the song, ‘Walk Tall’ performed by Ziggy Marley and Paul Simon:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Walk tall, walk tall.
Even if you fall get up.
Stand tall, stand tall.
Even if you fall get up.
Life is a lesson that we must learn.
If you play with fire, you might get burned.
If you worry too much,
You gonna get stressed.
So brush off the dust,
and lift up your chest.

That’s all I’ve got to say for now…just a simple and effective motivational inspirational tip to improve your self confidence.
So use this tip and let me know your results. Okay?
Till next time…
Wishing you peace, love and happiness,

Okay, Jack, time to take action. You’ve felt confident and good when you stand tall. Keep telling yourself “I want to feel good!” Also, write on a card: Stand tall! You can do it! Then write that on more cards and keep those cards in the places where you will most often see them. They will serve as reminders for you.
Also, remember to smile often. That will make you feel good. You could add Smile! to your cards. 🙂 I’ve learned that it takes 21 days to form a habit, so I want you to start your 21 days today. Mark your success each day with a gold star on your calendar or in a journal. You can do it, Jack!
The way I carry myself is horrible. I have been into the habit of rounding my shoulders down and also when I walk I just put my legs in the “V” direction and walk. Sometimes it is so embarrassing when people actually notice me the way I walk and laugh. I feel so low and bad. Whenever I try walking straight with my chest out, tummy tucked in, I feel so confident and good. I find inner peace and happiness in myself and sometimes I even say to myself “yes I can do it”. But I am not getting into the habit of it and tend to forget about it most of the times. What do I do?? 🙁
Hi Bob, Thank you for your words of wisdom and compliments!
The post has a very important message. Its so true, right postures keeps away body aches and keep us active and most importantly it gives us confidence. Our body language can speak a lot about us and the state we are in. A happy state of mind is always reflected in our body language and you’ve stated that message in such a well written, short and motivating post. Joyce, keep up the good work of bringing meaning into the lives of other people.
Thank you for sharing your results with standing tall. It’s so amazing how it makes you feel more confident. I love hearing how what I’ve written has helped you. It inspires me to continue writing motivational inspirational stories and songs.
I came across this blog and after reading I realized that I don’t feel confident. I began wondering how could stand tall boost my confidence, but then I decided to give it a try. For one day I made it a point to stand tall, even while sitting I would keep my shoulders back and tummy tucked. It does make a difference! I felt a change in my attitude. I felt more active, confident and negative thoughts as if turned away. I told my husband and in a few days both of us have imbibed this new habit. It’s not very difficult but needs constant attention. Putting on alarm in the mobile phones helped us a lot. Now we don’t need the alarms though.
Thank you Michael and Andrew for those excellent tips!
Self-confidence exercises can also include affirmations. Make positive statements to yourself first thing in the morning, before the concerns of the day have set in. Several times a day, continue to repeat statements such as the following:
• I am confident in my ability to handle whatever will come up today
• I am improving every day
• I deserve to be happy and successful
These self-confidence exercises are small ways you can begin to work on your sense of self-worth each and every day. You will be surprised at how quickly this will make a difference in your life.
Recognize your insecurities. What does that voice in the back of your mind say? What makes you ashamed of yourself? This could be anything from acne, to regrets, or friends at school. Whatever is making you feel unworthy, ashamed, or inferior, identify it, give it a name, and write it down. You can also tear up these written pieces to eliminate negativity and start feeling positive on those points.
I’ve learned this lesson just recently. Taking action is very important so something will happen and that is true.
Monica, thank you for those excellent tips about taking action.
We receive information to gain self confidence, even if we went to many as seminars or read a lot of books about motivation, it will not work if we don’t take action and make all those things that we learned happen. Remember the goals that we set, implement that particular goals every single day, day and night. Revise what went wrong and try to improve it. This will help to improve your self confidence..
Thank you, Spike. I’m glad you liked my story. You’ve given some excellent tips.
Great story and very inspiring. The first thing that should do is that we should be clear on our goals. What is the purpose for us to do an activity? We should set a goal for whatever we plan to do, and then only if we plan to challenge ourselves to achieve that target. It is an important step because it will lead us to create another goal and reach another larger goal. This will help to build up self confidence.

Hi Joyce:
Excellent blog post and so true. Just last week I was thinking about how I round my shoulders forward a bit too much and when I am conscious of how I carry myself, my confidence is higher when walking tall. This is also true in other task such as writing – the longer I wait to start writing again gives a feeling like people who follow me are being let down.
We have a plan in the works to get at it again and just by doing this simple task has increased my confidence and gives a feeling of peace knowing a plan is in the making again.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Joyce.
Regards,
Carl T
